Streetlights – Beat Pack
OVERVIEW
This project involved creating a full beat pack for the hip-hop collective 'Urban Syndicate'. The brief was to produce five distinct beats that shared a cohesive, late-night urban atmosphere, blending classic boom-bap elements with modern trap textures.The Challenge
The main challenge was to create a diverse set of beats that still felt like they belonged to the same project. Each track needed to inspire a different flow and lyrical theme while maintaining a consistent sonic palette of moody synths, hard-hitting drums, and soulful samples.
Our Approach
We dove deep into our record collection to find unique, obscure samples for the melodic foundation. We then built the rhythm sections using a hybrid approach—programming hard 808s and crisp hi-hats, then layering them with dusty drum breaks. Each beat was arranged with clear sections (intro, verse, chorus, bridge) to provide a solid structure for the artists to write to.
The Result
The “Streetlights” beat pack provided the perfect sonic backdrop for Urban Syndicate’s latest mixtape. The artists praised the beats for their professional quality and inspirational vibe, and the resulting mixtape has been hailed as their best work to date by fans and critics alike.
